The most famous Czech Art Nouveau artist (1860-1939), was a painter, a decorator and a designer. After studying in Munich, he went to Paris where he caused a huge sensation designing a lithographic poster for a play of Sarah Bernhardt. He is mainly known for his ethereal female figures, dressed in classic pastel dresses, and for his elaborate floral motifs. The Slav Epic was his most ambitious artwork.
