Bouquet Impérial” by Fabergé
This magnificent Egg, one of the most beautiful ever created by the renowned jeweler of the Russian Imperial Court Peter Κarl Fabergé, was offered by the czar Nicholas II to his wife Empress Alexandra, at Easter 1898. Decorated with an elaborate guilloché pattern, it features a lovely bunch of “muguet” flowers, with delicate pearls mounted on their fine golden stems, and a multitude of enameled leaves with a glossy green surface. The beauty of the composition is enhanced by two fine stripes of diamonds, embracing the Egg cross-wise. But the element which best reflects the richness of Faberge’s imagination, is the upper part of the Egg, adorned with three diamond stripes upon which rests the imperial crown, enhanced with diamonds and a splendid ruby.
By drawing the crown upwards, you will be able to see what Alexandra herself saw 109 years ago: A triptych of oval miniature diamond frames, emerging from inside of the Egg, featuring the portraits of her husband and of her two young daughters!
