ΚΑΤΗΓΟΡΙΕΣ
The bright blossoms in this vase are borrowed from Claude Monet's (1840–1926) Bouquet of Sunflowers (1881), a cheerful still life in The Met collection. Monet exhibited the painting at the Impressionist exhibition of 1882 to critical acclaim. He was also admired by Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890), who wrote in 1888: “Gauguin was telling me the other day - that he had seen a painting by Claude Monet of sunflowers in a large Japanese vase, very nice. But - he likes mine better. I am not of that opinion."
