In 1888-1889, during the days he lived in Arles, Vincent van Gogh's works featured mainly yellow and blue colours, displayed also at this masterpiece, where the stars and the lights are reflected in the river, which, like the sky, has a deep cobalt blue colour. The original artwork, painted in 1888, belongs to the Musée d'Orsay, in Paris.
